INTRODUCTION: These wind chimes are hand made one at a time in Austin TX, tuned to Just Intonation for harmonic purity, and pitched to Concert A448 for compatible resonance with the pulse of the Earth and Moon. They are hand signed by the Artist on the wind catcher along with the name and notes.

UNPACKING: Your wind chimes are completely assembled, ready to hang.

INITIAL SETUP: After suspending, make sure the tubes are hanging straight, and the cords are centered on the internal pins. Check that the lower pendulum cord guard is flush with the top of the wind catcher, and the keeper pin is secure at the top.

BREAK-IN PERIOD: As the wind chime receives action, the edges of the clapper will smooth and harden a bit for a more solid attack against the tubes. The surface of the tubes will experience some conditioning also, further contributing to an increase in volume and clarity.

HANGING INSIDE: For indoors, a small fan may be used to activate the chimes. As a Feng Shui enhancement they may be placed near doorways and windows for incoming breezes and to allow visitors to brush against them. Some people tie a string from the wind catcher to a door or a cat toy. If you are not able to enjoy the wind chimes outside because of weather conditions or space availability, hang them inside! Mount from a sturdy wall bracket or lag screw hook.

HANGING OUTSIDE: Experiment with different locations and heights while considering the prevailing wind direction. Winds are generally stronger in unrestricted breezeways, open areas, corner eaves, and as the height from the ground increases. Suspend securely and directly from a strong lag screw hook or wall bracket at least 1-2 feet from any wall or object. If the wind chime is too close to a wall, the wind may blow only one side of the wind catcher, resulting in a spinning action. Sturdy shepherd's poles may be employed in open areas. Bird feeder suppliers offer deck mounts and other solutions. Do not hang from a nail, the side of an eave, a weak support or branch, or above any area of activity or property that can be damaged or injured from a fall. Hanging from ropes and swaying tree limbs can cause a pendulum effect upon the entire assembly, resulting in less action.

AS A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT: Not only may these wind chimes be played by the wind or a fan, but they may be played by humans as well. Stand close to them, and ring them gently by the wind catcher to experience the enveloping proximity effect. Position yourself in between two compatible sets of wind chimes for a more pronounced effect.

ACOUSTICS: Sound travels with the wind. Acoustics of a space may either amplify, absorb, or diffuse the sound. Walls, awnings, porches, and other enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces will tend to amplify sound, while open spaces will diffuse the sound. Trees and shrubbery will absorb sound and break the wind.

WIND SPEED: These wind chimes are designed to work in steady ambient breezes of 3 to 15 mph, measured at the location of the wind catcher. Be aware that wind reports are generated from flat airport weather stations measuring wind speeds at 30 feet altitudes.

CLEANING: For periodic cleaning you may use mild dish soap and water with a soft rag. Occasionally check inside the tubes for spiders, wasps, and debris.
